Biography:  Overcast of a Black Sun

Overcast of a Black Sun began in 2004 as a project from the mind of Lee IV.  Lee, often associated with Trent Reznor (N.I.N.) and called a "vocal cameleon" at times for his diverse tonal range, has written many songs and plays all instrument parts himself.  Whether it be bass, guitar, drums, or vocals, Lee tries to bring an original flavor to all of his songs.  While listening to the music of O'Black Sun, one may find it hard to place in a single category, and that's exactly how Lee likes it.

Lee's origins to music started at an early age.  He started playing such instruments as the Drums at age 4, Saxophone at age 8 ("hey... give me a break... it was the 80's"), and Guitar/Bass in his later teens, early 20's.  But arguably one of his strong suits is his writing ability coupled with a diverse vocal range.  Both his parents have musical/athletic backgrounds with ties to some Hall of Fame Athletes and Musical Groups.

If anything, Lee loves to tell odd stories in his lyrics and never knows the result of it all until after its written.  "I often find myself writing something lyrically and then after its done... I go back and re-read it to see what the hell my mind came up with.  But no, I never write about people or subjects to start things out.  I just cant do it.  I draw blanks every time I try... So I just stopped trying.  You get my heart that way.  If it turns out "twisted".  So be it."  His songs tell stories that draw many pictures in the imagination.  It's almost like a artist painting on an invisible canvas, works of art.  The structure of the canvas can not hold the artist colorful work to display just one specific meaning.

Although, O'Black Sun isn't doing many live performances, Lee enjoys playing with other musicians that share his passion for music....not money.  "Money is great and everything, but I could never sell my self out.  Not that I wouldn't accept money for gigs, cd's, etc.  But as far as being fake to myself, or the music just so I can get "radio cred" and have to kinda dumb down my structure a bit to have something that's "poppin" or sounding like everyone else today ..naah... its just not me.  Sure, I would love to be heard on that level, but not at the expense of the music's and my own integrity.  That's why I appreciate the fans so much... cuz they are the heart of it all.  No fans and your talking to yourself in the dark."

As long as Lee could remember he's always been different.  He loves and has listened to all kinds of diverse music ever since childhood.  But his heart has always belonged to all forms of rock with some major influences that include Megadeth, Steve Vai, Led Zepplin, Hindrix, Faith no More, Alice N Chains, Black Sabbath, Opeth, Razed in Black, NIN, Depeche Mode, Van Halen, and many many more;  not to forget Tool and Soundgarden.  "Undertow was my first bought CD ever.  I played the hell out of it too.  Sure, I burned the hell out of a lot of cassette tapes before that, but still...Cant beat it as your first cd."
